Shiomi Choir

It was founded as a parents’choir of the Ninomiya Elementary School 63 years ago, having Ms Taeko Kuwabara as their conductor for the last 45 years. Giving a concert every other year and having joined many national festivals and competitions. As a part of the joint choir “Mama Mulberry Choir”, participated in the Tallinn Song Festival Grounds in Estonia which was still under the Soviet Union’s reign, the Powell River International Choral Competition in Canada and the Llangollen International Choral Competition in the UK. There are some members still singing since the choir’s foundation 63 years ago.

Taeko Kuwabara

Graduated in Vocal Music from Ferris University. Conducting Odawara Children’s Choir for 56 years, Mulberry Choir for 34 years, and Mulberry Chamber Choir for 21 years. Won 1st Prize and Best Conductor Performance in Young2006Praha, and 1st Prize in Youth Equal Voices Category at Riva del Garda in Italy, in Folklore Category at Arezzo, Singing Kodály International Choral Competition in Hungary and Takarazuka International Chamber Chorus Contest in Japan. Taught Choral Music at Ferris University and served as a jury member for many competitions including ITB International Choral Competition in Indonesia and Takarazuka International Chamber Chorus Contest in Japan.
