Mulberry Chamber Choir

Founded by the alumni of the Odawara Children's Choir in 1998, now the choir is in its 20th year. Received multiple Gold prizes in the National Competition of the Japan Choral Competition. In 2013, performed as the invited choir in the Karuizawa International Chorus Festival. The Ladies and Men in the choir are also having separate activities; the female choir Mulberry Choir was founded in 1985 and received the overall 1st prize in the Takarazuka International Chamber Chorus Contest, 1st prize in the Kodaly International Choral Competition Youth Category (Hungary), 1st prize in the Arezzo International Choral Competition Folklore music Category (Italy). The male choir Mulberry Male Choir was founded in 1992 and received the 2nd prize in the Ensemble Competition of the Karuizawa International Chorus Compeition and the overall 1st prize in the Kanagawa Vocal Ensemble Competition. Currently open for male voice members to join.

Taeko Kuwabara

Graduated from the Ferris university department of music. Studied vocalization under Takehisa Kinoshita, and vocal music under Seiko Sasaki. Along with conducting the Odawara Children's Choir for 55 years since its foundation, she is conducting a total of nine groups including Mulberry Choir, Mulberry Male Choir, Mulberry Chamber Choir, Shihomi Chor, and Voce di Carillon. After working as the lecturer at the Ferris University department of music, she is now the Advisor at the Kanagawa Choral Association, Lecturer at the Asahi culture center, and Jury of the NHK music competition. Also she is a jury in the ITB International Choral Competition (Indonesia) and Takarazuka international chamber choir contest. She received the Best conductor's prize in the Prague Chamber Choir Competition (Czech) in 2006.
