Le Gland

Established in April 2010 as a "choir for young choristers in Nara Prefecture". The members are in their teens to thirties and work energetically. Its main activities are participating in choral festivals and various competitions, and holding concerts. In July 2019, they will receive the Silver Prize in the Mixed Chorus Division of the 2nd Tokyo International Chorus Competition. In September 2021, they will receive the Gold Prize in the Mixed Chorus Division and Contemporary Music Division of the 3rd Tokyo International Chorus Competition, and participated in the Grand Prix competition in the Mixed chorus Division. In July 2022, they will receive the Gold Prize in the Mixed Chorus Division of the 4th Tokyo International Chorus Competition.In February 2020, when they celebrate their 10th anniversary, they held a 10th anniversary concert at Nara Centennial Hall, where they will perform "Sights I -I am a Cat-," a work first commissioned by Naoto Aizawa, to great acclaim. Le Gland" means "acorn" in French.

Ichiro Uenishi

Mr. Ichiro Uenishi graduated from Osaka College of Music with a degree in vocal music. He studied voice under Mr. Hirokazu Yokota , conducting under Mr. Masami Matsuo and chorus directing under Mr. Hiroki Fujii. He is currently a music director of Chœur Chêne, Ensemble Termina, Le Gland, Ensemble Nisi, Nelken Chor and Music Club of Nara women’s University. He has led Chœur Chêne to gold prizes 15times in the Japan National Choral Competition and winning prize 5 times in the Takarazuka International Chamber Chorus Contest. Also he won first place in all categories at The 8th Fukushima Vocal Ensemble Competition. He proactively acts as the judge of Contests and the lecturer of Choral Workshops in recent years. He has been a permanent conductor of Suzaku Symphonie Orchestra since 2002, and worked energetically to perform the orchestral music. He serves as a director of Nara Choral Association, a director of Kansai branch of Japan Choral Directors Association and a member of “ONGAKUJU”.
