Kitakami Muse Choir established in 1999, was started by Kitakami City , Iwate in northern Japan for elementary school students who love music. Our choir’s aim is to improve expressiveness and coordination through musical activities, and enhance children’s social skills. Currently, first-year elementary school students to third-year junior high school students from various schools in the city gather to practice.
We hold chorus concerts and musicals every year. For our musicals , every year we invite a director ( from Warabi-Za , a famous theater company in Akita ). In 2024, at our 25th anniversary musical , we performed the musical “Acorn and the Wildcat,'' based on Kenji Miyazawa , a famous Japanese fairy tale writer. Furthermore , we join a lot of events and sometimes we perform for elderly welfare facilities in Kitakami.
We sincerely appreciate having the chance to join this competition. We hope that you enjoy the Japanese traditional songs that we perform.
