Isaiah Koh

Isaiah Koh is a diverse musician who has performed a wide range of music. His career as a choral conductor initiated when he was the Director of Music at LeTourneau University in Texas. It was then he realized the importance of reading musical scores in building up a choir. When he was on the faculty of School of the Arts (SOTA) in Singapore, he chanced upon the Kodaly method of teaching as he explored ways to help students learn music theory musically through singing. This led him to study at the Kodaly Pedagogical Institute of Music of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Hungary where he saw what a successful children’s choir looks like and how to develop one. Upon returning to his native Singapore, he continued using this pedagogy during his tenure at SOTA and when he was conductor of a children’s choir comprising of the children of the faculty of the Nanyang Technological University. Furthermore, he was an associate faculty with the Singapore University of Social Science, teaching music education undergraduates on the Kodaly pedagogy.Isaiah has attained a Bachelor of Music in Composition from Taylor University, a Master of Arts in Kodaly Music Pedagogy, and is finishing his Masters in International Education with the University of Melbourne. Currently based in China teaching music in an international high school, Isaiah looks forward to share his musical passion and knowledge through the teaching and conducting of the Voice of Suzhou children’s choir.
