Chor Kashuan
合唱団 花集庵
Japan

The name of our choir, “Kashuan,” literally means “Hermitage of Gathered Flowers.” It expresses our hope that the artistic individuality of each member—each a unique “flower”—comes together to create music of diverse beauty. We pursue what feels “new” to us. This does not necessarily mean performing newly composed works or attempting something eccentric. Instead, we seek expressions we truly believe in, without being limited by conventional ideas of what choral music should be. The “newness” we aim for is relative; it may already exist elsewhere in the choral world. But that is not what matters. What matters is our ongoing search for what we genuinely want to express.
