The Tarlac State University Chorale, the university’s premier mixed ensemble, continues to showcase Filipino artistry through folk, indigenous, sacred, classical, and contemporary music. In 2025, the group earned major achievements at the Andrea O. Veneracion International Choral Festival, winning a Gold Award and 3rd Place in Folk & Indigenous Music and a Silver Award in the Mixed Category. They also claimed 2nd Place in Showchoir and 3rd Place in Standard Choir Singing at CAASUC III 2025. These add to their strong 2024 season, highlighted by a Grand Prize at the 1st Pangasinan Choral Festival and Gold Awards in Contemporary and Musica Sacra in Taipei. With national and international distinctions, the Chorale proudly represents Tarlac State University and the Philippines.

Joshua Ysmael D. Fontanilla

Joshua Ysmael D. Fontanilla also known as “Fonts” is the current musical director/conductor of the Tarlac State University Chorale. He is a faculty at the same university under the College of Education. He is graduate of Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Music, Arts, P.E., and Health at Tarlac State University, and finished Masters of Arts in Physical Education in Araullo University in Cabanatuan City. He is tagged as one of the youngest conductor in the country to bag awards not only in National Level but also in International Stages. His aim for the group is to strengthen the musical capabilities and knowledge of the students in their university, bringing with them their Alma Mater’s name in every competition. He also attended various seminars and workshops locally as part of his training ground as the conductor of the group such as the CCP and Philippine Madrigal Singers' ARTS Academy where he completed his course about Empowerment and Development of University Choirs Program.
