Japan

Directed by Kuniko Yoshioka, this joint choir unites groups that regularly collaborate. The Tochigi Girls' High School Chorus Club actively engages in concerts and competitions, as well as volunteer work and commissioning new choral works. LaFontaine was established in December 2016 by alumnae of Utsunomiya Chuo Girls' High School. Meaning "fountain" in French, the name reflects their desire to deliver vitality and culture like a vibrant spring and to sing music that resonates deeply with the heart. Recently, the choir achieved great success during a tour of three Polish cities in March 2025. Their CD, Songs of a Passing Summer: Akira Nishimura Choral Works for Women's Choir, was honored as a "Special Selection" in Harmony, the quarterly magazine of the Japan Choral Association.
